Lyallpur Khalsa College observes International Yoga Day

Jalandhar June 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- NSS Unit Lyallpur Khalsa College in collaboration with My Bharat Office Jalandhar organized a Yog Session in the morning to celebrate International Yoga Day. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu was the chief guest of the event. He lauded Yogs as one of the richest the legacies of India which is now globally recognized. He added that in the prevailing situation, where stress and alienation are taking a toll on the human body, yoga is a significant solution to balance mind, body and soul. He added that yog brings not only peace of mind but also flexibility in the body.

During the session, yog asanas like surya namaskar, prayanam, tadasana, ashwa sanchalanasana, dhanurasana, savasana, bhujang asana etc. focusing on breathing, flexibility and muscle strength were performed. NSS volunteers, students and civilians performed the asana in unison. NSS program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that this yog session was organized under the directions of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India under the theme -Yoga 365, MY Bharat to promote youth participation and community engagement through the MY Bharat portal.

During this event, trainer Ekta Pandey, while performing asanas, explained the correct method to do them as well as their various benefits and impact on body and mind. A pledge against drug abuse was also taken for intensifying the vision of Nasha Mukt Bharat. Ms. Neha Sharma, District Youth Officer, My Bharat Office, Mr. Kulwinder Kumar and a significant number of students participated in this soul soothing experience.
