PG Department of Psychology of HMV organized One Day Workshop

Jalandhar March 28 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized an insightful workshop titled “Psychology in Action: Empowering Generation Z” under the visionary guidance of Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla. The workshop was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the dynamic role of psychology in understanding and empowering the youth of today. The distinguished resource person for the session was Dr. Jeshtha Angrish, Scientist ‘C’ at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). She was formally welcomed by the Head of the Department, Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, along with faculty members, through the presentation of a green planter as a token of respect and gratitude.

The session was thoughtfully structured into four comprehensive segments, covering Generation Z, the scope of psychology as a discipline, applications of psychology in diverse domains, and an engaging interactive question-and-answer round. Dr. Angrish elaborated on the unique challenges and remarkable capabilities of Generation Z, emphasizing that while Gen Z possesses immense potential, capability without psychological depth often leads to exhaustion. She highlighted that psychology not only serves as an academic discipline but also functions as a practical toolkit for life, transforming raw capability into sustainable competence.

Further, she shed light on the vast scope of psychology across clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, and various other emerging fields. The importance of psychological assessment and the careful selection of appropriate tools in professional practice was also discussed in detail. Enriching the session further, Dr. Angrish shared her personal experiences, inspiring students to approach the discipline with clarity, responsibility, and purpose. Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla appreciated the initiative taken by the department and encouraged students to actively engage in such intellectually stimulating platforms.

The event was skillfully anchored by Ms. Pahul Jabal and Jhanavi, and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the Department of Psychology. More than 150 students participated enthusiastically in the workshop, along with faculty members Ms. Priya, Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms. Ishamanpreet Kaur, and Mrs. Gurpreet from the Department of Psychology,and ANO Ms Sonia Mahendru, Incharge NCC ,from the Department of Computer Science , making the workshop a meaningful and impactful experience and making the event a resounding success.
