Jalandhar March 17 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The PG Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, celebrated Pi Day with great enthusiasm and academic fervour under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The event, organized annually by the department, aimed to foster interest in mathematics and create awareness about the significance of the mathematical constant π. The celebration commenced with an insightful introduction highlighting the importance of Pi (π) and its indispensable role in mathematics and science.
Students actively engaged in a variety of mathematics-based activities, making the programme both informative and interactive. A key highlight of the event was an extension lecture delivered by Dr. Jaswinder Singh, President, IAPT RC-02. He elaborated on the diverse applications of π across mathematics, science, and technology, inspiring students and strengthening their understanding of its real-world relevance.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Gagandeep, Head of the Department of Mathematics, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the guest speaker, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation. Dr. Deepali, Dr. Gaurav, Mrs. Charan, and Satjeet Singh were also present on the occasion, adding to the significance of the event. Overall, the Pi Day celebration at HMV proved to be an enriching and memorable experience, encouraging students to appreciate the beauty and practical importance of mathematics in everyday life.
