Jalandhar March 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Dance of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar successfully organised a National Webinar on the topic ‘Kathak as a Professional Skill and its Articulation in the Present Scenario’ in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). It aimed to explore the evolving dimensions of Kathak as both a classical art form and a resourceful professional avenue in contemporary times.
The distinguished resource person for the session was Mr. Vishvadeep, Chairman of Kala Chaitanya Society, New Delhi. He delivered an insightful and engaging discourse on the fundamentals of Kathak, tracing its rich lineage through various gharanas and highlighting its dynamic adaptability in the modern cultural landscape. He also elaborated on the expanding professional prospects in the field of classical dance, encouraging students to pursue Kathak not merely as a passion but as a sustainable career.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar extended their heartfelt admiration for the speaker for his enlightening session and also lauded the Department and its Head, Dr Sugandhi Bhandari for organising an activity that demands expertise and talent.
