Jalandhar March 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar has achieved significant success in the field of academics, sports and cultural activities. Various students bodies and societies of the college contribute immensely to preparing students for state and national level events. Keeping this intact, Punjabi Sahit Sabha of Post Graduate Punjabi Department is playing an important role in promoting literary interests among students. Punjabi Sahit Sabha organizes literary competitions at different times to promote this literary talent among students. Inter-departmental competitions of Punjabi poetry, essay and story writing dedicated to International Mother Language Day were organized. Around 60 students participated in this event.
On this occasion, College Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu congratulated the students and motivated them to take further steps and participate in such literary competitions. Then Principal Dr. Sandhu honored the winners of different events with certificates and mementos. M.A.Punjabi student Jasmeet Kaur won the first prize in the poetry writing competition, second prize was won by student of BA Sem 4 Jasmeet Kaur and third prize winners were Ruby Bagha of B.Com semester 4 and Baljinder Kaur of B. P. T. first year. Similarly, in essay writing competition, Mandeep Kaur of M.A.

Punjabi sem 4 won the first prize, Gautam Kumar of B.Sc. Sem 4 and Shivani of B.A. sem 4 won the second prize while Mamta of B.Sc. sem 4 and Satwant Kaur of B.P. T. first year were declared joint third position winners. In the story writing competition, Manpreet Kaur of M.A. Punjabi sem 4 won the first prize, Simranjit Kaur of M.A. Punjabi sem 4 won the second prize and Prabhleen Kaur of B.Sc. sem 2 won the third prize.
On this occasion, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Coordinator Prof. Kuldeep Sodhi paid vote of thanks. Prof. Preeti, Dr. Sandeep Kaur Cheema and Prof. Sahil rendered their services to conduct these competitions smoothly. Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra prepared the certificates and kept records. On this occasion, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Prof. Sandeep Singh, Prof. Kanwaljit, Prof. Ajay were also present.
