Jalandhar February 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts organized a distinguished guest lecture on “Systems Safety and Risk Management” under the joint aegis of the All India Council for Technical Education as part of the Distinguished Professional Scheme.

The keynote speaker for the session was Prof. Chitra Rajagopal, former Director at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Welcoming the esteemed guest, Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed pride in hosting such an accomplished and erudite professional. She stated that Prof. Rajagopal’s expertise and profound understanding of this contemporary and critical subject would greatly benefit not only the students but also the faculty members.

Dr. Dhingra further highlighted that the Apeejay Stya institutions continue to scale new heights under the visionary inspiration and ideals of their Founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul Ji, a renowned industrialist, distinguished educationist, freedom fighter, and philanthropist. She emphasized that his rich legacy is being carried forward with dedication and excellence by Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, along with Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-owner and Director, Family Business Board, Apeejay Satya & Svran Group, and Lead – Education Vertical, Apeejay Education.
Delivering her lecture, Prof. Chitra Rajagopal elaborated on the principles and practical applications of Systems Safety and Risk Management. She explained that the primary mission of DRDO is the indigenous design and development of advanced weapons systems, missiles, radars, and other military equipment for the Indian Armed Forces. She emphasized that the core objective of research in this field is to maximize safety efficiency while optimizing resources.
Prof. Rajagopal also presented videos demonstrating safety measures against explosive threats. Speaking about safety standards, she emphasised that in the event of a bomb explosion within a building, systems must be designed in such a way that structural damage is minimized and the safety of occupants is ensured.
Dr. Roopali Sood, Head, Department of Computer Science extended a formal vote of thanks to Prof. Rajagopal for her insightful and comprehensive address.
