Jalandhar January 23 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar observed the auspicious festival of Basant Panchami with devotion and cultural enthusiasm. Celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month of Magha, Basant Panchami marks the advent of spring and is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the divine embodiment of wisdom, learning, music, and the arts. The festival, also known as Saraswati Puja, holds special significance for educational institutions.
As Goddess Saraswati is revered as the harbinger of knowledge and intellect, the day is traditionally associated with Vidya Arambha, the initiation of learning, highlighting the importance of education and enlightenment. The celebration reinforced the academic and cultural ethos of the college.
The college campus was beautifully decorated with yellow flowers, colourful kites, and thematic décor. Yellow, the symbolic colour of Basant Panchami, represents energy, prosperity, and the vibrancy of the spring season. Students actively participated in the celebrations dressed in shades of yellow, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The celebration commenced with the invocation of Goddess Saraswati led by Principal Dr.Pooja Prashar. Sacred hymns were chanted, followed by the offering of flowers and the distribution of prasad, creating an atmosphere of reverence and spiritual harmony.
PCM S.D. College for Women takes pride in celebrating India’s rich cultural and traditional festivals, providing students with opportunities to stay connected to their heritage and values. The event was successfully organised by the Home Science Association in collaboration with the Youth Club of the college.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other honourable members of the Managing Committee and Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated the students and faculty members for their enthusiastic participation and appreciated the collective efforts that made the celebration meaningful and memorable.
