Jalandhar January 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Student Council of Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar, under the initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla, celebrated National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Ji. On this occasion, a webinar on the theme “Viksit Bharat – Role of Youth” was organized to sensitize students towards their role in nation-building. The distinguished resource person for the webinar was Mrs. Seema Mishra, President, Mahila Haat Society, a national-level organization working in the field of women and youth empowerment.
The programme commenced with the virtual lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the triumph of knowledge over ignorance, followed by the DAV Gaan, in keeping with the rich traditions and values of the institution. Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Dean, Student Council, formally welcomed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to the Principal, the resource person, faculty members, and students. She highlighted the relevance of celebrating National Youth Day and emphasized the significance of youth participation in realizing the vision of a developed India.

In her insightful address, Mrs. Seema Mishra motivated the students to become job creators rather than job seekers. She elaborated on the role of youth in achieving the goals of Mission Viksit Bharat @2047, stating that Viksit Bharat is not merely a government policy but a clear call to action for the youth of the nation. She emphasized that national development begins with individual responsibility, ranging from simple acts like maintaining cleanliness to actively helping others.
According to her, meaningful change must first begin within oneself for the nation to develop in its true sense. She further remarked that Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya has never been an institution that only confers degrees, but has consistently served as a strong platform for character building, self-confidence, leadership development and social responsibility.

She emphasized that the youth are the backbone of the nation and must imbibe the ideals of Swami Vivekananda Ji in their lives. She encouraged students to use their education not only for personal growth but also for contributing positively to society and the nation. Her words of motivation further inspired the students to work with dedication, integrity, and social responsibility.
On the occasion, an online quiz competition based on the theme was also conducted for students, making the session engaging and interactive. Students actively participated and shared their views on the role of youth in shaping the future of the nation. The programme witnessed the gracious presence of Dr. Anjana Bhatia, IQAC Coordinator, Mrs. Savita Mahendru, Co-Dean Student Council, and other council faculty members including Mr. Pardeep Mehta, Dr. Kajal Puri, Dr. Jiwan Devi, Ms. Jyotika Minhas and Ms. Harmanu.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Head Girl of the college, Gurleen Channa, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, the resource person, faculty members, and students for their valuable participation and support. The entire programme was smoothly moderated by Dr. Urvashi Mishra.
