Jalandhar January 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The DAV University Jalandhar resonated with warmth, cultural pride, and festive cheer as students, faculty members, and staff came together to celebrate Lohri, the vibrant Punjabi harvest festival, with great enthusiasm. The celebration reflected the spirit of unity and cultural richness that defines the institution.
The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora, Registrar, who joined the university community in marking the occasion. The celebrations commenced with a traditional prayer followed by the ceremonial lighting of the bonfire, symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of longer, brighter days.
The campus came alive with colourful traditional attire, spirited folk music, and the rhythmic beats of the dhol, creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement. The bonfire became the heart of the celebration, drawing participants together in a shared moment of cultural expression.

Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Sidhu, Dean, Law and Student Welfare, said, The Lohri celebration has been thoughtfully planned to create a warm and inclusive space where students, faculty, and staff can come together to celebrate our cultural heritage. Such events foster togetherness, positivity, and a strong sense of belonging within the university community.
Enhancing the festive spirit, the organizing committee arranged traditional Lohri delicacies such as popcorn, jaggery, rewari, and groundnuts, which were distributed among the attendees. The lively ambience, combined with music and dance, ensured wholehearted participation and made the celebration truly memorable.
