Lyallpur Khalsa College students visit Bhagat Puran Singh Pingalwara Manawala (Amritsar)

Jalandhar November 13 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Department of Physiotherapy, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar organized an educational tour for students to visit Pingalwara at Manawala, Amritsar established by Bhagat Puran Singh. This educational tour was flagged off by the Principal of the college, Prof. Navdeep Kaur. She said that such efforts not only increase the knowledge of the students but also provide them with practical experience. The staff members of the department of Physiotherapy thanked the Director of Pingalwara, Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Administrator, Mr. Yogesh Kumar by presenting a memento and a bouquet of flowers for giving the students the opportunity to see and understand this special social institution from a close distance.

Mr. Jugesh Kumar informed the students about the history of Pingalwara and showed them various centers at Pingalwara and explained them in detail. The students visited the museum built on the life of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji and studied the Artificial Limb Center, School for Special Children, Laboratory and Rehabilitation Center. Here, the students were made aware in detail about the various facilities run there such as free medicines, sanitation, recycle unit and bio-gas plant.

The teachers and students of the department interacted with the people living there and, got inspired from their courage and vision of life and remembered the service and dedication of Bhai Sahib Bhagat Puran Singh Ji, the founder of Pingalwara. About 39 students of BPT Part III and IV of the college were part of this tour which made the students emotional and taught them that true education is associated with the service to humanity. This educational tour was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Priyank Sharda, Dr. Anjali Ohja, Dr. Vishali Mahindru and Dr. Alisha Kamboj.
