Jalandhar November 11 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- As per the guidelines of Guru Nanak Dev University and under the able leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of Post Graduate Punjabi Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya celebrated Shaheedi Hafta dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji under which Punjabi Sahitya Sabha organized a special lecture on the life, works and heroism of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. On this occasion, eminent Sikh thinker Prof. Dr Sewak Singh attended the event as the chief guest.
Dr. Navroop Head Punjabi Department, Mrs. Kuljit Kaur and Dr. Mandeep Kaur Incharge Punjabi Sahitya Sabha welcomed the guests by presenting planters. Addressing the students, Dr Sewak Singh shared subtle insights related to the relevance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom, humanistic values, and ideological policies of Aurangzeb. He inspired the students to become the bearers of good values by linking martyrdom and humanity with the present era. Finally, Mrs Satinder Kaur gave the vote of thanks.

On this occasion, Dr Sandeep Kaur, Mrs Sukhwinder Kaur, Ms Simran, Ms Amanpreet, Ms Mandeep Kaur were also present. In the second program in this series, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Punjabi Department, Hindi Department and History Department organized a poster making competition on writing verses of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in which about 50 students wrote verses and made various posters and presented their art beautifully. During this competition, Mrs Deepshikha Head of Chemistry Department, Dr Jyoti Gogia Head of Hindi Department and Dr Sangeeta Arora Head of Computer Department played the role of judges.
In this competition, Nisha and Jasleen Kaur won the first place, Sofia and Amandeep won the second place, Nidhi, Preeti and Mehakpreet won the third place. On the third day, the Hindi Department organized a special lecture by Dr Tanuja Tanu, Senior Editor Punjab Kesari. She shared valuable information by keeping the teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the protection of religion in the centre. Dr. Jyoti Gogia welcomed the guest by presenting her a green planter. Mrs Pawan Kumari presented a vote of thanks. Dr. Deepti Dhir was also present on the occasion.
The fourth program was organized under the guidance of the Head of the History Department
In this episode, the fourth program was organized under the guidance of the Head of the History Department, Mrs Protima Mander under which a special online program was organized on the topic of Life and Philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The resource person of the event was Dr. Kunal Associate Professor DAV College, Jagraon. Keeping in mind the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, he spoke to the students about faith in God, love and humanity, opposition to injustice, respect for all religions, discipline etc. Under this link, a quiz competition was also organized by Punjabi Sahitya Sabha, Hindi Department and History Department on the subject of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life, works and martyrdom.
In this competition, Palak won first, Komalpreet Kaur second and Simranjit Kaur third place. Principal Dr Ekta Khosla welcomed these visiting guests by presenting planters and badges of honor and she motivated the students participating in various competitions. She motivated the students to adopt good values and constructive thinking so that they can bring glory to the college and the country.
She also congratulated the Punjabi Department, Hindi Department and History Department for the events organized to celebrate the Martyrdom Week and said that such events not only provide good information to the students but also inspire them with human values. Dr. Navroop thanked the head of the institution for the encouragement given by her regarding the events and encouraged the students to participate actively in such events.
