Jalandhar September 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, proudly announces the prestigious achievement of Dr. Sumit Singh Padam, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts, who has been awarded the coveted “A” Grade in Sitar (Hindustani Classical)by All India Radio (Prasar Bharati, Government of India).
Belonging to a distinguished musical lineage, Dr. Padam represents the third generation of musicians in his family. His grandfather, Sh. Sohan Singh Padam, a graded AIR artist, was a celebrated Sitarist and craftsman of classical instruments, while his father, Sh. Jasbir Singh Padam, is a noted Sitar and Tabla exponent. Upholding this legacy, Dr. Padam continues to train under Pandit Harvinder Sharma, a Top Grade AIR/TV artist from the lineage of Ustad Vilayat Khan Saheb (Imdadkhani Gharana). Guided by the philosophy “Guru Kripa Hi Kevalam”, he has earned acclaim for his soulful performances across India and abroad.
An academician and performer, Dr. Padam holds M.A., M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Music, and his dedication to Indian Classical Music enriches the learning of his students at Apeejay.
