Workshop on Machine Learning and AI conducted at HMV

Machine Learning

Jalandhar March 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The PG Department of Computer Science and IT at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized a one-day workshop on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) under the auspices of the DBT Star College Scheme. The event, held under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of cutting-edge technologies. The workshop was led by Mr. Karan Arora, Founder & CEO of Itonoix Solutions and Founder of Filmy Cave Productions. As per the tradition of HMV, the resource person was welcomed with a green planter, symbolizing the institution’s commitment to sustainability.

Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen extended a warm welcome to Mr. Arora, praising the efforts of the Computer Science Department for successfully organizing such a relevant and timely program. She emphasized that Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are the future of technology and urged students to focus on these areas to stay ahead in their careers.

Mr. Arora began the session by introducing the fundamentals of Python and C languages, highlighting their importance in the field of programming. He also shared valuable tips and tricks for students, particularly those looking to improve their chances in placement interviews. He explained the three core components of Data Science — Data Cleaning, Data Analysis, and Data Visualization — and demonstrated how to perform these tasks using Jupyter Notebook, providing real-life examples to ensure the students could grasp the concepts effectively.

The session also delved into more advanced topics in Machine Learning

The workshop then progressed to the basics of Machine Learning, where Mr. Arora covered topics such as supervised and unsupervised learning. He explained various machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, and association, helping students understand how these methods are applied in different scenarios. The session also delved into more advanced topics in Machine Learning, like Deep Learning, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). Mr. Arora pointed out that most of the current research is focused on CNN due to its incredible potential in image recognition and other fields.

In an engaging segment, Mr. Arora explained how popular platforms like YouTube and Netflix use algorithms to recommend videos to users, as well as how traffic is analyzed, and even how online challans can be automatically filed using computer vision technology. He also introduced the concept of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and shared insights on how one could develop their own voice assistant, like Alexa, using NLP techniques. The workshop was not only informative but also highly engaging, providing students with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the exciting world of AI and Machine Learning.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Sangeeta Arora and co-coordinated by Mr. Gullagong. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sangeeta Arora, Head of the Department. The workshop was also attended by faculty members from the Computer Science Department, including Dr. Anil Bhasin, Mr. Gurmeet, Mrs. Sangeeta Bhandari, Dr. R. Jindal, Mr. Bhatia, Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Miss Sonia, and Mr. Pardeep. This workshop proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees, offering valuable knowledge and practical skills in the rapidly evolving fields of Machine Learning and AI.
