Two-day Psych Fiesta organized at Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar February 2 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Psychology of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a 2 day Psychology Fiesta in order to create general awareness about the Mental Health amongst youth. When it comes to providing quality education, the college leaves no stones unturned and provides as many platforms to the students as much possible to ensure the holistic growth of the students. The college works on the priniciples established by the Founder Chairman Late Dr Stya Paul Ji and the constant guidance of Dr. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Education.

On the first day of Psych Fiesta, Quiz competition related to psychology, poster making competition on topics related to mental health and open mic competition were organized for all the students of the college. The students participated with great enthusiasm and zeal in it.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, while expressing her views on this occasion, said that in the era of information system and competition, most of the youth are becoming victims of stress and depression and they often do not actively take care of their mental health. There is a need to make them aware of the importance of mental health. Therefore, this Fiesta has been organized which I believe will indeed be very beneficial for them.

On the second day of this Fiesta, various psychological tests were conducted.

Vanshika Sharma- BA 4th Semester student of Psychology tested the mental health of the college students and faculty on important topics like anxiety, life satisfaction, depression, stress and personality. As a result of which everyone was made aware of their true nature. The other students pursuing Psychology who actively worked in the smooth functioning of the event were Himani, Gurusahib Singh, Dikhsha, Kritigya.

Ms. Suhani, Counselling Psychologist Psychiatric Nursing Home, Kapurthala and Tanveer Singh, Psychologist from Military Hospital Jalandhar Cantt were present on this occasion. They addressed and counseled the students and inspired them to adopt a positive approach in life. Apart from psychological testing and counselling, art therapy, grapho therapy, meditation, psychological games and photo booths were also set up in this fiesta so that the students could understand the importance of their mental health as well as get entertained.

In poster making competition, Kritika, Grace Arora and Gurusimran got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. In open mic competition, Ritika Sharma got first, Diya Ahuja got second and Bhumika and Diya Talwar got third position. In quiz competition, the team of Krutya, Hardil and Deeksha stood first, the team of Bhumika, Sandeep and Piyush stood second, the team of Anureet Vanshik and Vani stood third.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra honoured the winning students by giving them certificates and appreciated the efforts of Ms Harpreet Kaur and Ms Niharika of Department of Psychology for successfully organizing Psyche Fiesta.
