Jalandhar October 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized Sunakhi Punjaban Pratiyogita 2025 under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and Dr. Navroop HOD Punjabi Department. The event was an initiative of the PG Department of Punjabi and Youth welfare Department in collaboration with Radio City, Jalandhar. The event aimed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, promote traditional attire, language, and values, and instill pride among young women for their roots. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The distinguished guests included Ms. Seema Soni, Regional Director, Radio City, and RJ Sandy. The panel of judges comprised Ms. Sheetal Thakur, Ms. Harmanpreet, and Ms. Manpreet Jawanda. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and DAV Anthem. Dr. Navroop and Mrs. Kuljit Kaur welcomed Principal Dr. Sareen with a planter.

Principal Dr. Sareen extended a warm welcome to the guests and honoured the judges. In her address, she highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting Punjabi culture, traditions, and values. She encouraged the youth to become ambassadors of their heritage, stating that such initiatives help in nurturing a stronger, value-driven society. Around 50 participants from the college and collegiate school enthusiastically participated in the event. The competition was held in three rounds showcasing the beauty, talent, and grace of Punjabi womanhood.
The winners were as follows: Sunakhi Punjaban 2025 – Monika, BCA Sem V, 1st Runner Up – Gursimran Preet Kaur, 2nd Runner Up –Muskan Kaur, B.Com Sem I, Special Titles: ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ – Parneet Kaur, ਸੁਰੀਲੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ –Pratibha, ਗਿੱਧੇ ਦੀ ਰਾਣੀ -Tavleen Kaur, ਲੰਮ ਸਲੰਮੀ ਮੁਟਿਆਰ –Kamalpreet Kaur, ਮੋਹਕ ਮੁਸਕਾਨ – Kanika Chandel, ਸੁਗੜ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਮੁਟਿਆਰ- Ridham, ਹਰਨੋਟੇ ਨੈਣ – Harshita Verma. The winners were presented with trophies and traditional gifts as a token of appreciation. The event was coordinated by Ms Satinder Kaur, Dr. Sandeep, Ms. Pawan, Dr. Rama Sharma, Dr. Mandeep, Ms. Lovleen, Ms. Protima, Ms. Deepali and Dr.Meenu Talwar . The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Mandeep Kaur.
