Jalandhar May 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In the ongoing Skill Enhancement Classes at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, the Department of B.Design (Fashion & Textiles) introduced +2 students to the vital aspects of ‘Design Your Own Clothing’.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra shared her views on the significance of the subject, stating that many students today aspire to become successful entrepreneurs in the fashion industry. For this, a sound understanding of sustainable and market-oriented designs is essential.
She further added that if students, alongside pursuing their undergraduate degrees, also gain proficiency in innovative fashion design, there is nothing stopping them from becoming successful entrepreneurs. She emphasized that the National Education Policy 2020 encourages students to develop skills aligned with their interests.
Faculty members from the Fashion & Textile Department, Ms. Tanya and Ms. JasleenKaur, acquainted the students with contemporary fashion design concepts and highlighted the importance of sustainable fashion. The students were introduced to various techniques such as block printing, screen printing, foil printing, and tie & dye. They were also guided on how creative designs can be developed using leftover or waste fabric from home.
Dr. Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Ms. Rajni Gupta and Dr. Seema Sharma for successfully organizing the Skill Enhancement Classes and commended their dedication in empowering students with practical and creative skills.
