Jalandhar October 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, through its Psychology Forum and The Listening Room, observed World Mental Health Week from 1st to 10th October 2025 to commemorate World Mental Health Day, celebrated globally on 10th October. This year’s theme, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” emphasized the importance of ensuring mental well-being even in the face of global crises.
The week-long celebration commenced on 1st October with a Workshop on Expressive Arts Therapy conducted by Ms. Niharika Mazumdar from the Department of Psychology. The session explored the therapeutic use of creative art forms to promote emotional expression and healing. Next, the students from various departments enthusiastically participated in engaging activities such as a Photo Booth and Open Mic, which provided them with a platform to creatively express their perspectives on mental health. The series of activities concluded with a Group Meditation Session for the faculty, incorporating Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation Techniques to enhance mindfulness and stress management.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra lauded the efforts of Ms. Niharika and Ms. Hapreeet for organizing a week dedicated to fostering awareness and empathy towards mental health. She remarked, “Such initiatives are vital in sensitizing both students and faculty about the importance of emotional well-being. The focus on practical tools like expressive arts and relaxation techniques helps nurture a supportive and compassionate academic environment.”
The Mental Health Week at ACFA reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education that not only hones intellectual capabilities but also promotes mental resilience and emotional balance among its students and staff.
