Jalandhar May 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PG Department of Commerce & Management of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar in collaboration with Research Committee organised a Seminar on – “Shape Up or Ship Out: A Mantra for Success.” The Resource person for the Seminar was Dr. Rajneesh Arya, Dean, Technical Campus, Apeejay Institute of Management and Technology, Jalandhar.

The objective of this event was to motivate the students to constantly improve their skills set and be upgraded in this ever-evolving scenario.

The resource person initiated by challenging conventional timelines for achievement, emphasizing that success follows different trajectories for different individuals. He emphasized the importance of personal development as a foundation for success. He explained that in today’s increasingly competitive and materialistic environment, the ability to adapt and evolve personally is what separates those who thrive from those who struggle.

He addressed the damaging impact of social comparison which is taking youth towards depression, intolerance of pressure and anxiety. The speaker cited recent psychological studies showing how comparing oneself to others significantly undermines happiness and productivity. Practical advice dominated the second half of the seminar, with the speaker providing attendees with actionable strategies.

In addressing today’s competitive landscape, the expert stressed the importance of developing a unique skill set. He urged participants to continually upgrade their capabilities to distinguish themselves in crowded fields. In a highly competitive job market, he highlighted the importance of developing a unique skill set and staying committed to continuous learning in order to remain relevant.

The seminar was attended by 62 students from B.Com and M.Com programs, along with faculty members from the department.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar applauded the department for organising a deeply enriching experience, equipping students with a realistic and inspiring perspective on achieving success in both their professional and personal lives.
