PCM SD Collegiate Senior Secondary School Students Embark on Educational Trip to Amritsar and Goindwal Sahib

Jalandhar May 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The students of PCM SD Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar embarked on an educational trip to Amritsar and Goindwal Sahib in Punjab. The trip meticulously planned to provide a blend of historical education, cultural immersion and personal development, was supervised by three dedicated teachers: Mrs. Monika Sharma, Mrs. Ruhi Arora, and Mrs. Shallu Chopra.

The first stop was Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib, where students learned about its historical significance, having been established by Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru. They participated in the Langar, experiencing the core Sikh tenets of selfless service and community living.

Next, the students visited Jallianwala Bagh, a pivotal site in Indian history. They watched a short film that detailed the events leading up to the massacre, the brutality inflicted by British forces under General Dyer, and the massacre’s profound impact on India’s freedom struggle. This visual narrative deepened their understanding of the site’s historical importance.

The students then proceeded to the Harimander Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, where they experienced the serene and sacred atmosphere of this renowned Sikh shrine.

In the end, the students explored local markets in Amritsar, where they shopped for traditional Punjabi goods and savored local delicacies, adding a cultural dimension to their educational journey.

The trip provided a well-rounded experience, combining historical education with cultural immersion, leaving a lasting impact on the students’ understanding and appreciation of their heritage.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, the other honourable members of the Managing Committee and the worthy Principal of the college Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar appreciated the efforts of the incharge of the school, Mrs Sushma Sharma for successfully organizing the educational tour.

She also said that such trips and visits not only educate the young mind but also nurture and nourish them with gasp of freshness in such a way that they work and learn with more conviction and commitment.
