PCM S.D. College for Women conducts NISM (National Institute of Securities Market) Series VA- Mutual Fund Distributors Exam- Level-2 Certification

Jalandhar May 23 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Committee for Competitive Examinations of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar and the PG Department of Commerce and Management, in collaboration with Krisha Foundation, organized a Skill Development Program on “Level-1 Certification Program on Financial Literacy and Investor Education” under the initiatives of BSE Ltd. through the SEBI Investor Certification Examination.

The certification program was meticulously structured by BSE Ltd. as a Skill Development Program which was done via Google Meet app. The Level-1 Certification Program served as an introductory framework for students to develop basic financial literacy and the trainer was Dr. Jyoti Verma, Associate Professor at Chitkara Business School, Chitkara University Punjab. A total 125 students were registered with BSE Ltd. Portal, out of which 100 students of PG Department of Commerce and Management appeared for the exam and 91 qualified for the Level -1 exam and were awarded certificates by BSE Ltd. and were shortlisted to appear for mock test for level -II Exam.

After certification students can run their own Mutual Fund Distribution (MFD) Business

The Level-2 Certification Program focused on becoming a Mutual Fund Distributor (MFD), wherein the successful students can sell mutual funds in India and earn commission from Assets Management Companies. Not only this, after certification students can run their own Mutual Fund Distribution (MFD) Business and offer investment solutions to their clients working with AMC’s, Banks and Financial firms.

The Level-2 certification delves deeper into advanced investment analysis and portfolio management strategies, teaching students both technical and fundamental analysis of securities markets. Students also learnt advanced tax planning methods, financial regulations, market compliance frameworks, and digital financial technologies that are transforming the industry.

The selection process for Level-2 was rigorous and many mock tests were conducted after the training program. Out of 91 shortlisted candidates, 80 students were qualified and approved for Level -2 Certification. The criteria of selection were based on their performance in both Level-1, Mock Examination(s) for Level-II, and their higher secondary marks. The Level-2 certification holds significant value in the job market, potentially opening pathways to specialized roles in financial advisory, investment management, banking operations, and financial analysis.

This two-tiered certification approach by NISM and BSE Ltd., facilitated through an NGO Krisha Foundation, represents a comprehensive educational pathway that progressively builds students’ financial competencies from basic financial literacy to advanced professional applications, preparing them thoroughly for the dynamic and complex financial landscape they will encounter in their careers.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar applauded the department for holding a successful Skill Oriented Program.
