Jalandhar November 26 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Library Advisory Committee of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated National Library Week from November 14 to 20, 2024, on the theme “Wake Up and Read”. This annual observance, initiated by the Indian Library Association in 1968, highlights the vital role of libraries, librarians, and library workers in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The event aimed to promote reading habits among students and teachers, encourage library usage, and showcase the evolving significance of libraries in the digital age. The college librarian, Ms. Sonia, addressed the gathering and shared the history and importance of National Library Week. She motivated students to become regular readers and explore the vast resources available in the library.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, in her address, emphasized the transformative power of libraries. She remarked, “Visiting the library is a gateway to endless knowledge and creativity. Libraries can truly transform lives if students utilize their resources and delve into the world of information.”
President Shri Naresh Bhudia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, the other honourable members of the Managing Committee, and the worthy Principal applauded the efforts of the Library Advisory Committee for organizing this meaningful event. They stressed the importance of cultivating a love for reading and acknowledged libraries as pillars of academic excellence and intellectual development.
