Jalandhar August 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Youth Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized “Mela Teeyan Da” to celebrate the vibrant traditions of Punjab and foster cultural awareness among students.
The college campus turned into a hub of joy and festivity as students and staff participated enthusiastically in various cultural activities. Principal Prof. (Dr.) PoojaPrashar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of the organizing departments for promoting cultural heritage through such meaningful celebrations.
The traditional Kikli competition was the highlight of the day, symbolizing unity and joy among participants. A beautifully decorated swing was set up to recreate the nostalgic charm of Teej, a festival that celebrates love, reunion, and monsoon joy, especially among newly-wedded women visiting their parental homes.
Adding to the festive spirit were stalls of mehndi, bangles, nail art, and traditional Punjabi delicacies. Different eatables stalls also added flavour to the celebration, attracting enthusiastic participation from students and staff and enhancing the overall festive atmosphere.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other esteemed members of the Managing Committee, and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the vibrant celebration and commended the college’s commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural values of Punjab.
