Jalandhar February 2 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated Basant Panchami with great fervor and devotion. Observed on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu month of Magha, this festival marks the arrival of spring and is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati—the embodiment of wisdom, knowledge, music, and the arts. Commonly known as Saraswati Puja, the day holds immense significance in the realm of learning and education.
Since Goddess Saraswati is revered as the goddess of wisdom and learning, Vidhya Arambha—the ritual of initiating young children into formal education—is an important tradition observed on this day.
