PCM S.D. College for Women Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga as NCC Nodal Centre

Jalandhar June 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NCC Unit of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and fervour under the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The programme was organized in collaboration with Alfa Mahendru Foundation and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan (New Delhi), Jalandhar Unit, with the active participation of NCC cadets, faculty members, students, and members of the local community.

Adding another feather to its cap, PCM S.D. College for Women was designated as a Nodal Centre for Yoga Activities by Colonel R. S. Lehal, Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, in recognition of the institution’s continuous efforts towards promoting yoga, wellness, and healthy living among youth and society.

The event witnessed the participation of nearly 110 NCC cadets, faculty members, students, yoga enthusiasts, and local residents, who enthusiastically performed the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Participants took part in various sessions on Yogic Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation, Breathing Techniques, and Relaxation Exercises aimed at enhancing physical fitness, mental resilience, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

The programme highlighted yoga as a holistic way of life that promotes health, harmony, and happiness at every stage of life. Through synchronized yoga demonstrations and meditation sessions, participants experienced the benefits of discipline, mindfulness, self-control, and inner balance.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar described yoga as India’s invaluable gift to humanity and emphasized its importance in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Referring to the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” she stated that regular yoga practice helps individuals maintain physical vitality, mental alertness, emotional stability, and spiritual well-being throughout life. She encouraged students, NCC cadets, and community members to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine.

The celebration served as an effective platform to spread awareness regarding the importance of yoga in fostering discipline, mindfulness, holistic health, and social harmony. The enthusiastic participation of NCC cadets reflected the values of dedication, self-discipline, and commitment towards personal well-being and nation-building.

Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated Major Priya Mahajan

On the occasion, Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated Major Priya Mahajan, Associate NCC Officer and IQAC Coordinator, and Mrs. Ritu from the Department of Education for their dedicated efforts in successfully organizing the programme. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Alfa Mahendru and his team from Alfa Mahendru Foundation, along with the members of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, for their valuable support, expert guidance, and cooperation in making the event a grand success.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, and other honourable members of the Managing Committee, along with the worthy Principal lauded the efforts of the organizing team for successfully conducting the International Day of Yoga celebrations and promoting the message of health, wellness, and disciplined living among the youth.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to embrace yoga as a way of life and to spread awareness about its immense benefits for individual well-being and societal health. Through this successful celebration, PCM S.D. College for Women once again reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing healthy, disciplined, and socially responsible citizens while preserving and promoting India’s rich yogic heritage.
