Jalandhar December 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The 7-Day Special NSS Camp organized by Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar, at Village Lidhran continued with great enthusiasm and active participation from all NSS volunteers under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The days were thoughtfully planned to focus on physical fitness, mental well-being, and value-based learning. The days began early in the morning with a fitness and yoga session, where a yoga instructor guided the volunteers about the importance and benefits of yoga for a healthy lifestyle. Various yogic asanas were demonstrated, which are especially beneficial for students to improve physical fitness, mental concentration, stress management, and overall well-being.

As the day coincided with International Meditation Day, a meditation session was also conducted. The volunteers participated wholeheartedly and experienced a sense of calmness, relaxation, and renewed energy, which helped them remain active and focused throughout the day. Ms. Harmanu, Programme Coordinator, briefed the volunteers about the academic and literary activities planned for the day. All volunteers assembled in the IT Conference Hall, where the programme began with the DAV Gaan, followed by the NSS song “Hum Honge Kamyab”, creating a motivational and patriotic atmosphere.

Subsequently, two declamation contests were organized. The first topic was “Not Me, But You – The Spirit of NSS and Social Responsibility,” where the participants eloquently expressed the core values of NSS, emphasizing selfless service, empathy, and commitment to society. The second topic, “Youth as the Architect of a Clean, Green, and Inclusive India,” inspired the volunteers to share their views on the role of youth in nation-building, environmental protection, and inclusive development. The participants performed confidently and reflected a deep understanding of the true spirit of NSS and social responsibility.

The poetry competition was organized on the theme “Trees and Their Human Connection.”

In addition to the declamation contests, a poetry competition was also conducted, in which volunteers from all groups actively participated. The poetry competition was organized on the theme “Trees and Their Human Connection.” Through their poems, the volunteers thoughtfully expressed how human beings continuously benefit from trees in the form of fruits, shade, oxygen, books (paper), and livelihood. They highlighted the irony that even after trees are cut down, their wood is used for fuel and other purposes, yet humans continue to destroy forests indiscriminately.

The participants strongly conveyed that by cutting trees, humans are not merely harming nature but are spoiling the entire environment and disturbing ecological balance. These expressions reflected the volunteers’ deep concern for environmental protection and their strong sense of responsibility toward preserving nature for future generations. In the post-lunch session of the day, the volunteers participated in fun and team-building games designed to strengthen coordination, cooperation, and mutual bonding among them. These activities created an atmosphere of joy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie, allowing the volunteers to relax while enhancing team spirit and unity.
