NCC Unit of PCM SD College for Women holds Awareness Programme on International Millet Day

Jalandhar December 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NCC Unit of PCM SD College for Women in collaboration with department of Home Science and Department of Fine Arts and Jalandhar Welfare Society took an active initiative in celebrating International Millet Day by organizing a comprehensive awareness programme. The event aimed to educate students and the local residents about the nutritional benefits and significance of millets like jowar, bajra and ragi in a sustainable and healthy diet. The objective was to highlight the importance of incorporating millets into our daily lives which were very much part of our ancient Indian diet.

The NCC cadets familarized the local residents and the shopkeepers in the vicinity on the nutritional value, environmental impact, and agricultural aspects of millet cultivation. A special emphasis was placed on the global context of millet cultivation and consumption, exploring its role in addressing food security challenges and contributing to sustainable agriculture practices. The programme was organised under the able tutelage of ANO Captain Mrs Priya Mahajan, Associate Professor Mrs Manmeet Kaur, Assistant Professors Mrs Ramanjit and Mrs Jaswinder. General Secretary and Social Activist Mr Surinder Saini also witnessed the event.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the endeavours of the NCC Unit for demonstrating their commitment to holistic education by organizing such events that go beyond traditional boundaries and contribute to the overall well-being of the college community.
