NCC Unit of PCM S.D. College for Women Holds Rally at ‘Parakram Diwas’ to Commemorate Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

Jalandhar January 23 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- NCC Unit of PCM S.D. College for Women celebrated ‘Parakram Diwas’ in collaboration with United INA Freedom Fighter Arshad Association (UINAFAA) Northern Zone and Jalandhar Welfare Society to commemorate 127th birth anniversary of Neta ji Subhash Chandra Bose. On the proud occasion, Shri Surinder Saini, General Secretary, Jalandhar Welfare Society and Secretary, Northern Zone, UINAFAA was the chief guest of the day. Dr Anoop Vats, President, UINAFAA and Principal, K.R.M. DAV College, Nakodar was the Guest of Honour. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar and NCC Incharge Captain Priya Mahajan accorded a green welcome to the guests.

The chief guest delivered an impelling guest lecture on one of the greatest freedom fighters history has ever known. He delved into Netaji’s visionary leadership style, emphasizing his commitment to a free and united India. He also drew parallels between Netaji’s ideals and contemporary challenges highlighting the enduring relevance of his principles. A documentary film was also shown to the students on the life and his freedom struggles.

Dr Anoop delivered a valuable discourse on Neta ji’s contributions. He held that the young generation too should carve a niche for itself following the footsteps of Neta ji, who was way ahead of his times. He instituted a Women Wing in INA in the year 1943 with Captain Laxmi Sehgal as its Incharge, which evidently proves his commitment to women empowerment back then.

Post the lecture, the NCC cadets took a rally from the college, through Central Town and reached Sainik Welfare Office, Shastri Market, Jalandhar. The cadets also raised his oft-used banners and slogans to enliven his memory. The purpose of the rally was to sensitise local community. This outreach activity aimed to create awareness, promote a sense of shared history, and strengthen the bond between the educational institution and the surrounding community. On reaching Sainik Welfare Office, students participated in a programme organised by National Martyrs Memorial Committee, Jalandhar.

In the programme, old members of INA and the ex-service men participated to honour Neta ji’s memory.Staff Secretary Mrs. Manmeet, Mrs. Ramanji Talwar, Mrs Jaswinder and Ms Jaspreet were present during the programme. President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar felicitated the NCC Unit for symbolizing unity in diversity and showcasing a collective commitment to the ideals espoused by Netaji.
