Jalandhar September 30 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College, organised an engaging talk on Artificial Intelligence titled “Keep Your Brain in the Loop: Artificial Intelligence and Agency” by Kartik Vinayak, a programmer and game designer based in San Francisco and a UCLA alumnus. Mr. Vinayak explored how individuals can make effective use of AI without allowing it to diminish their own creativity, critical thinking and agency. He shared practical techniques and strategies for using AI optimally while keeping the human brain actively involved. He also demonstrated a range of AI tools that can assist with organisation, productivity and making everyday tasks easier.
A particularly engaging part of the interaction was Mr. Vinayak’s presentation of some of his own work in programming and game development, which generated considerable interest among the students and opened up a glimpse into the creative possibilities offered by technology. Principal, Dr. RS Sandhu, graced the occasion and observed that since AI is becoming an unavoidable part of contemporary life, we should embrace AI, but with precaution. His remarks highlighted the need to approach emerging technologies with awareness and responsibility.
Dr. Balraj Kaur, Head, Department of English, remarked that such interactions are a testament to the college’s commitment to going much beyond the classroom and exposing students to contemporary ideas, technologies and professional perspectives. Several faculty members, including Dr. Sanjeev Anand, Dr. Charanjit, Dr. Manmeet Sodhi, Dr. Geetanjali Mahajan, Dr. Manpreet Lehal, Dr. Sandeep Singh were also present on the occasion.The interaction provided students with an opportunity to engage with AI not merely as a technological tool but as a development that calls for curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and responsible human agency.
