Jalandhar January 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Recently, famous Kabaddi promoter Sardar Ajaib Singh Chatha visited the premises of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, a leading educational institution of North India. The Principal of the college, Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, welcomed him. While discussing the mother game of Punjabis, Kabaddi, he said that the former president of Lyallpur Khalsa College Governing Council, Late Sardar Balbir Singh, has made a historic contribution in the field of Kabaddi. Sardar Balbir Singh played a primary and important role in taking the game of Kabaddi to the international level. He had a deep attachment to Kabaddi and he wanted this game of Punjabis to make its full presence felt on the world map.
Ajaib Singh Chatha, recalling the old days, said that while Sardar Balbir Singh wanted to see Punjab at the forefront in the academic field, he was also fully dedicated to connecting young students with Punjabi culture and sports. Ajaib Singh added that he is going to organize an international Kabaddi conference in collaboration with Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University and Jagat Punjabi Sabha to take Kabaddi to the international stage. He said that the legacy left by Sardar Balbir Singh can serve as a guide for today’s youth.

On this occasion, the President of the College’s Governing Council, Sardarni Balbir Kaur, said that Lyallpur Khalsa College has always been and will remain committed to Punjabi culture. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rashpal Singh, said on this occasion that as long as our mother tongue and mother game remain alive, Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat will remain alive.
The Principal said that through this unique type of conference, a new tradition will be set, for which Mr. Chatha deserves applaud. Two professors of our college, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon and Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, will be participating in this conference and will read their research papers. They promised to provide all possible support from the college for this conference. On this occasion, heads of various departments, teachers and a large number of students were present.
