KMV organises an educational visit to Care for Autism centre

Jalandhar March 17 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P.G Department of Psychology organised a one day educational visit to “Care for Autism”, Jalandhar. Students of MA Psychology and B.A sem-6 were taken to the this centre. During the visit, students got a chance to interact with the operational head of CFA, Dr. Atul Madaan, Clinical Psychologist (RCI registered) who talked about the emergence of vast field of psychology, its prime importance in today’s era and its value in helping people, especially those having special needs.

He talked in detail about Autism Spectrum Disorder- its causes, its symptoms, assessment & diagnosis, and also about guidance, therapies and training that is being provided to not only to the children with various neuro development disorders and intellectual disability but also to their parents by different experts. The students got an opportunity to view how different therapies and treatments are given to these patients. In addition, they were also informed about the procedure to become registered Psychologists and special educators.

It was a practical and skill based exposure that added to the better understanding of students. Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of PG Department of Psychology for successfully organising this knowledge filled educational trip for the students. She averred that these kind of activities provides practical knowledge to the students along with the theoretical knowledge.
