Jalandhar February 28 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) always provide opportunities to students to learn skills which will help them in becoming a successful professional in the future. To provide a deeper understanding of retail banking, an extension lecture on “Overview of Retail Banking and Recent Trends in Retail” was organised by P.G. Department of Retail Management for the students of M.Voc. and B.Voc.(Retail Management). The resource person, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Chief Manager, Punjab National Bank, acquainted the students with valuable knowledge of various aspects and trends of retail banking. He discussed the importance of retail banking for the financial inclusion as it gives a lot of people access to a variety of banking services.

This lecture offered the opportunity to the students to understand the basic concept of retail banking, various retail products and schemes. He provided valuable knowledge to students about various aspects of retail and its key competencies. He discussed the scope of retail banking in India which is very vast and expanding, presenting numerous career opportunities for individuals those who are interested in this dynamic field. The speaker also provided valuable guidance related to recent trends of the retail market.

Students were acquainted with career opportunities in retail banking and various roles suitable for individuals with different skill sets, aspirations and roles like- Retail Banker, Loan Officer, Financial Analyst, Customer Service Representative. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Faculty of the Department of Retail Management for organising the knowledgeable session and also motivated the students to explore new concepts of retail banking and guided them to acquire right skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve managerial and leadership positions in retail banking.
