1 KG 50 GRAMS OF HASHISH, 14 STOLEN MOBILE PHONES, AND TWO STOLEN MOTORCYCLES RECOVERED
Jalandhar August 31 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In a significant blow to criminal activities in the region, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested six individuals involved in drug trafficking and multiple robbery cases. In a focused crackdown on drug traffickers, the police seized 1 kg 50 grams of hashish. Additionally, 14 stolen mobile phones and two stolen motorcycles were recovered, one of which had been reported stolen just a day prior.
The Arrested Accused Have Been Identified as Rahul alias Mangi, son of Ram Kishan, a resident of Mohalla Chaudharia, Phillaur. Anil Paswan, son of Jagdish Paswan, originally from Rajtan Thana Vakri Salena, Begusarai, Bihar, and currently residing in Khand Mohalla, Phillaur. Rekha, wife of the late Ratan Paswan, resident of Jagatpur Panjdhera, Phillaur. Vikas alias Bobby, son of Jagdish, a resident of Mohalla Ravidaspura, Phillaur Gourav Kumar alias Bhakta, son of Raj Kumar, resident of Mohalla Bhandera, Phillaur Sunita, wife of Raj Kumar, resident of Mohalla Santokhpura, Phillaur.
Divulging details to the press media, the senior superintendent of police, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, said that, “This operation is part of our relentless efforts to rid the region of the drug menace. We are committed to ensuring that those involved in such illicit activities face the full force of the law.” The both operations have been conducted under the supervision of DSP Phillaur, Swaran Singh Bal.
The first operation, led by Inspector Sukhdev Singh, SHO of Phillaur Police Station, involved a special checkpoint targeting suspected drug traffickers. The accused were apprehended with a significant quantity of hashish, alongside a stolen motorcycle that had been taken from the vicinity of Shiv Mandir, GT Road, Phillaur. The arrested accused will be produced in the local court.

In a separate operation, the police team has also arrested three members of a gang responsible for numerous robberies in the area. The police recovered 14 stolen mobile phones and another stolen motorcycle from the gang members. These individuals had been terrorising residents across Phillaur, Guraya, and Bilga with their criminal activities. .
SSP Khakh further elaborated, “The arrests of these criminals have significantly reduced the instances of robbery in the region. The Phillaur Police are dedicated to safeguarding the public, and this success is a testament to our ongoing commitment.”
In this regard, FIR dated 28.08.2024 under Section 20C of the NDPS Act, at Phillaur Police Station,
FIR dated 19-08-2024 under Section 304B of IPC, at Phillaur Police Station and FIR dated 13-08-2024 under Sections 304B, 3(5) of IPC, at Phillaur Police Station registered against the accused.
The arrested accused will be produced in the local court and their remand will be taken to further investigate the cases and to check their forward and backward linkage.
