Jalandhar June 3 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A Faculty Development Programme on the ‘Shifting Paradigms in Education System’ was organized by the ‘Internal Quality Assurance Cell’ of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressing her views on the significance of the topic said that the way higher educational institutions have been instructed to propagate education by incorporating the new education policy, everyone is impressed by its significance and Informing teachers and understanding about it in details is not just necessary but also need of the hour.

Dr. Sunit Kaur, Head, Department of English, as the resource speaker in this Faculty Development Programme, expressed her views on ‘Shifting Paradigms in Education System’ and said that on one hand the National Education Policy has opened new avenues for the multidimensional development of students and on the other hand, it is challenging for the educational institutions to follow the new regulations. Incorporating the foresight of accomplished educationists, this National Education Policy has established new dimensions to advance research and many changes have been made in this policy for the all-round development of students.

Now, education is not limited to lecture rooms only

Now, education is not limited to lecture rooms only but group teaching. Self study, game based learning and technology based learning will be the new methodologies to adopt. Dr. Sunit Kaur added that the need of the hour is to connect with the industry and the academy and at the same time students will also have to be connected with activities related to social reform, like paying attention to gender ratio, cleanliness and development of the rural area and educating the villagers at the same time. Encouraging students to pursue higher education is included in the principles of this National Education Policy.

Dr. Sunit Kaur responded to all the queries asked by the teachers and Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Rupali Sood (Head, Department of Computer Science) for successfully organizing this Faculty Development Programme.
