Intellectuals converged at DAV University pledge to preserve heritage, promote science

Jalandhar November 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A gathering of Punjabi intellectuals from across the globe convened at DAV University on Thursday, united by a shared vision: to safeguard Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and inspire scientific curiosity among the youth.

The two-day Punjabi Intellectuals Meet, organized in collaboration with the Punjab Academy of Sciences, highlighted the challenges faced by Punjabi researchers and literary scholars in their pursuit of knowledge.

The event was inaugurated by distinguished figures including Dr. R.C. Sobti, honorary scientist, INSA, and Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of DAV University, Dr. I.J.S. Bansal, Dr. Tarlok Singh, Dr. N.S. Dalla, Dr. H.S. Buttar, and Dr. S.K. Arora.

Dr. R.C. Sobti delivered the inaugural address, delving into the “Cardinal Principles of Life: Scientific Heritage of Punjab.” In the welcome address, Dr Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University said that Punjabi have created their niche in different fields globally. Dr Manoj said that DAV University was committed to fostering scientific research and academic discourse on the campus.

Former bureaucrat K.B.S. Sidhu proposed indigenous startups as a potential solution to Punjab’s economic stagnation. Dr. Surinder S. Rana from PGIMER, Chandigarh, discussed Idiopathic Chronic Pancreatitis.

Other international experts also shared their insights. Dr. Ashish Joshi from the University of Memphis explored approaches to addressing societal disparities in the 21st century, while Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra from the University of Manitoba, Canada, discussed advancements in cardiac stem cell therapy. Dr. Jitendra Mohan offered a psychological perspective on Punjab’s development.

Over 1100 intellectuals, scientists, researchers, and students participated in the event, demonstrating a strong commitment to preserving Punjab’s heritage and fostering scientific progress.
