Jalandhar August 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education observed anti-ragging week by conducting various activities showing resentment against all the forms of ragging both inside and outside the college campus.

An oath-taking ceremony was organized on the first day of the anti-ragging week in which all the student-teachers promised that they would not indulge in the menace of ragging or any form of violent behaviour. Neither will they tolerate being ragged nor be subjected to violence.

‘Education empowers, Ragging devours’ on this theme, poster making and slogan writing competitions were organized during the second and third day followed by drama enactments by NSS volunteers exemplifying prohibition, prevention and punishment related to ragging. Documentary movies on the ill effects of ragging were also shown to the students and faculty which were selected from UGC website www.antiragging and www.ugc.ac.in during the week.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh announced that although there have never been any malpractices in the college but spreading the message of humanity, respect, co-operation and peace is very important amongst the youngsters and all need to spread this message. NSS Programme Officer Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur informed that all the new students of the college and their parents are guided each year to fill the online anti-ragging undertaking form according to the UGC recommendations. Certificates were given to all the participants.
