Jalandhar October 18 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the aegis of Disha — an initiative run and managed by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, Innocent Hearts Colleges and Schools celebrated Diwali Fiesta with great pomp and show, beautifully blending festivity, creativity, and environmental consciousness. All five school campuses — Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, Noorpur Road, and Kapurthala Road — came alive with lights, colours, and joy as students from Nursery to Grade X participated in a range of creative hands-on activities showcasing imagination and teamwork.
The activities were like Candle and Diya Decoration, Lantern Making, Paper Plate Rangoli, Toran (Door Hanging), Glass Aromatic Candle Making, Lantern Making and Wall Embellishment, Rangoli Competition. The celebration began with mentors highlighting the significance of Diwali, inspiring students to celebrate it with gaiety, goodwill, and an eco-friendly approach. During the special assembly, students took a pledge to celebrate a Clean and Green Diwali, reflecting their sense of responsibility towards the environment.
The campuses of Innocent Hearts College of Education and the Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions were beautifully decorated with posters and rangoli designs symbolizing lighting up our hearts and loving our Mother Earth. Adding deeper meaning to the festivities, the Eco Club of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an ‘Anti-Cracker and Anti-Plastic Campaign’ to promote eco-friendly celebrations. The would-be teachers spread awareness about the harmful effects of pollution caused by crackers in their teaching practice schools.
They also crafted Diwali gift packages from recycled materials and pledged not to use plastic bags, reinforcing their commitment to a cleaner, greener planet. The entire celebration truly reflected the spirit of Diwali — spreading light, love and joy.
