Ropar, January 16 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, with support from the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, proudly inaugurated its 19th Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab at Entrepreneurship Promotion and Incubation Council, Technology Business Incubator (TBI) – NIDHI TBI, Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research (Under Shri Ram Swarup Memorial Trust, and affiliated to KUK). This marks the first CPS Lab in Haryana, setting a milestone in strengthening research, innovation, and skill development in CPS technologies across the region.
The event began with the inauguration of the new CPS Lab. The ceremony was graced by Sh. Sanjeev Chawla; Additional Development Commissioner MSME DFO, Chief Guest alongside Sh. Nalini Kant; Chairman, MDI and ACE, GP. CPT. CS Sharma (Retd.); Registrar, ACE, Dr. Meenu Saini; HOD ECE Department, ACE, Dr. Radhika Trikha; Chief Executive Officer, AWaDH, Dr. Mukesh Kestwal; Chief Innovation Officer, AWaDH.

Following the inauguration, Sh. Rama Kant delivered an address providing an overview of EPIC and the CPS framework, emphasizing their role in fostering innovation and problem-solving capabilities. This was followed by an address from Dr. Ashawant Gupta representing the ACE Team, who highlighted ACE’s student learning and development initiatives and their alignment with CPS-driven innovation.
Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Executive Officer of IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation, who in her address spoke about making CPS technologies accessible to all and encouraging innovation-led growth.
Dr. Mukesh Kestwal, Chief Innovation Officer, AWaDH, emphasized the importance of translating CPS research into scalable technologies, promoting startup-driven innovation, and building strong industry–academia linkages to create real-world impact.
The ceremony concluded with the formal inauguration of the AWaDH CPS Lab, followed by a tour of the facility, offering 50+ attendees a glimpse of its state-of-the-art resources and infrastructure and a guided tour of the facility by Mr. Pulkit Kumar along with the technical team. The lab aims to serve as a comprehensive platform for education, research, prototyping, testing, and collaboration.

The AWaDH CPS Lab serves as a platform for education, research, and skill development in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). With cutting-edge resources and innovative tools, the lab is equipped to deliver hands-on training and foster technical excellence. The facility includes:
• IoT Kits developed by IIT Ropar, offering 24/7 plug-and-play modules for experimentation.
• BLE Development Tools for wireless communication and IoT applications.
• Advanced environmental sensors for real-time monitoring and analysis.
• 3D Printer for rapid prototyping and design innovation.
The ceremony culminated in the formal inauguration of the CPS Lab, followed by a guided tour and live demonstration showcasing its advanced capabilities. Designed as a center for high-impact training, research, and innovation, the lab will benefit students, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals alike. The technical team from IIT Ropar conducted the first training and orientation session, introducing 30 students and 10 faculty members to the lab’s CPS-based toolkits and applied learning opportunities.
