Jalandhar October 16 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized an enlightening workshop on Mindfulness and Well-being, titled Mindful Pathways: Cultivating Calm and Creativity under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Ms. Prachika Chopra, Counselling Psychologist, Career Counsellor, Play Therapist Trainee, and Academic Counsellor was warmly welcomed by members of faculty of PG Department of Psychology. The workshop focused on exploring the power of mindfulness for inner peace, awareness, and emotional support.
Ms. Chopra introduced the basics of mindfulness, highlighting its importance in developing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and calmness in daily life. The session was highly interactive and engaging, involving various hands-on activities such as: Raisin Exercise Participants were guided to consciously observe the texture, structure, and sweetness of a raisin, emphasizing the importance of being present in the moment. Empty Chair Technique A role-playing exercise that helped participants, especially students, to express their inner critic and work through fears and emotions in a safe, reflective manner.
Mirroring Activity Encouraged students to connect with themselves, analyze their emotions and feelings and enhance self-understanding. Principal Dr. Sareen appreciated the initiative, commending the department for promoting mindfulness practices that nurture both emotional and creative growth. The session inspired students to integrate mindfulness into their personal and academic lives for holistic well-being.
The event was skillfully anchored by Ms. Yagima Sawhney and Sahejpreet Kaur and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Priya Seth. Over 100 students from various streams participated enthusiastically, along with Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms. Ishamanpreet Kaur and Mrs. Gurpreet from the Department of Psychology.
