Jalandhar March 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Zoology Department and HMV Environment Club under DBT Star Scheme and under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, organised a field trip to Mohendra Chaudhry Zoological Park, Chhatbir Zoo. Chhatbir Zoo is an integral part of Department of Forests & Wildlife Preservation, Punjab and is under the control of Field Director. It was established on 13th April, 1977 and span an area of 505 Acre with 103 Species and 1241 animals. The highlights of the visit were Lion Safari, Nocturnal House, Reptile House and various other land animals.
The students were excited to see a wide variety of animals including White Tiger, Leopard, Cheetah, Bear, Hyena etc. The Zoo provided a great opportunity for students to learn about different species, their habits and habitats. The Dinosaur Park, followed by the Lion Safari proved to be the most captivating spots. On this occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen gave her best wishes to students to rejoice in the lap of nature and learn interesting facts about animals. Head of Zoology Department and Dean Academics, Dr. Seema Marwaha said that such trips are important because they spark curiosity and enhance students’ interest in wildlife and it’s conservation.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Sakshi Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professors in Zoology. They connected the visit with the curriculum and engaged students in thought-provoking discussions, creating a conducive learning environment. Student Office Bearers of Environment Club; Yashika, Secretary and Riya, Joint Secretary as well as Class Representatives assisted in coordinating the groups and maintaining discipline. Lab Technician, Mr. Sachin also accompanied the students and assisted in making arrangements for the trip. Overall, the trip was an educational and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
