Jalandhar March 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla, in collaboration with the British High Commission, successfully organized a photo exhibition on campus under the ‘Visa Fraud Ton Bacho’ awareness initiative. The event aimed to educate students and young travellers about the risks associated with visa fraud and irregular migration. The exhibition was formally inaugurated with lighting the lamp.
Mr. Amandeep Grewal, UK’s Deputy Head of Mission, British High Commission and Dr. Navroop Kaur extended a green welcome to the guests. The event began with the lighting of the lamp. The display featured real-life case studies highlighting the tactics used by fraudsters and the severe consequences of falling victim to such scams.
During the session, the team from the British High Commission informed students about a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot (+91 70652 51380), designed to provide verified guidance on UK travel in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. The chatbot helps users identify fraudulent practices and offers authentic information on legal travel routes. A WhatsApp helpline is also available to assist individuals with visa procedures, scam awareness, and safe migration pathways. In appreciation of the initiative, Dr. Ekta Khosla said that awareness is the strongest tool to safeguard our youth from the traps of visa fraud. Such initiatives empower students to make informed, responsible, and secure choices while planning their future abroad.

The speakers emphasized that visa fraud can lead to severe consequences, including financial loss, exploitation, and even a 10-year ban from travelling to the UK. The initiative aligns with the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement between India and the UK, reinforcing a shared commitment to combat irregular migration. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests including Mr. Rajinder S. Nagarkoti, Senior Advisor, Political Media and Migration, British High Commission, Ms. Rachna Chaturvedi and Ms. Sunayana Sharma (Migration Officers), Mr. Arvind Pal Singh Bhamra (Manager Operations, VFS Global), and The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Rama Sharma, with support from Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, Coordinator of Global Linkages.
The Music department gave a wonderful performance. Ms. Jyoti Sehgal and Ms. Gayatri Kailey were also present on the occasion. The exhibition proved to be highly informative and impactful, equipping students with essential knowledge to make safe and informed decisions regarding international travel. The students of Music Vocal Department presented Folk Guldasta under the guidance of Dr. Prem Sagar and Dr. Gunjan. The students of Music Instrumental Department presented Folk Orchestra.
