Jalandhar February 9 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School celebrated National Mathematics Day 2025 under the able guidance of Principal Madam Dr (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The event was catalyzed and supported by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) Department of Science & technology (DST), Govt. of India. To honor the birthday of great mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan a workshop on mathematics as well as lively competitions – Mathematics Jewelry Competition and Mathematical Rangoli Competition were organized in which students of HMV Collegiate school and Govt. Girls Senior Secondary school, Nehru Garden participated enthusiastically.
The resource person Ms Rumani Ahuja was given green welcome by Principal Dr Mrs. Ajay Sareen, Dr Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics & school coordinator, Dr Anjana Bhatia, In charge, Institutional Innovation Council, Head, PG Department of Botany and Mrs Arvinder Kaur, school co – coordinator. Principal madam extended her heartiest welcome to all the dignitaries and students present there. She said that the main objective behind the celebration was to raise awareness among students about the importance of Mathematics. She said that HMV Collegiate School always remain in frontline to encourage the students to participate in such competition boisterously.

The resource person Ms Rumani Ahuja, a mathematician teacher at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, PAU explained the different features of mathematics in very interesting way. In her outstanding way, she elaborated the innovative use of 3d images, colored paper and technology by which Math can be made accessible and enjoyable for students. The competitions were adjudged by Ms Rumani Ahuja, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Gagandeep, Head Mathematics Department.
In Mathematical Rangoli Ranchita and Navriti secured the first position, Bhawna, Harshita & Dhwani jointly got the second position, & Samreen and Harshita jointly attained the third position. In Mathematical Jewelry, Muskan Virk got the first position, and the second position was attained by Ashmeet Kaur. On this event, a documentary on the life story of Srinivasa Ramanujan was also shown to students. The co- in charges of the event were Ms Vandana Sethi & Ms Charanjeet Kaur. The stage was conducted by Ms. Sukriti Sharma.
