Jalandhar February 7 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The PG Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, celebrated International e Day on 7th February 2026 under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla, who consistently motivates for organising such academic events from time to time. The program began with a short introduction explaining the significance of ‘e.’ An e-poster exhibition was organized on the topic ‘Significance of e in diverse discipline’, where students prepared creative posters illustrating the meaning, history, and real-life applications of ‘e’.
As part of the celebration department also organised ‘Visualising Mathematics: From Equations to Screen’, by screening of the movie “Biography of Ramanujan.” The film inspired students by presenting the life and achievements of the great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, showing how curiosity, dedication, and passion can lead to remarkable discoveries in mathematics. In the e-Poster Competition Jaspreet (B.Sc. Economics, Semester 6) won first prize, Diya Sharma (B.Sc. Semester 2) and Ashmeet Kaur (B.Sc. Semester 2) won second prize, Simardeep (M.Sc., Semester 4) and Kavya (B.Sc., Semester 6) won third position.
Ishika (M.Sc., Semester 2) and Anjali (B.Sc., Semester 4) were given appreciation prizes. The event concluded with brief and informative remarks by Dr. Gagandeep, Associate Professor and Head of the PG Department of Mathematics, who appreciated the efforts of the students and highlighted the importance of Mathematics in everyday life. On this occasion, Dr. Deepali, Dr. Gaurav, Mrs. Charan and Mr. Satjeet Singh were also present.
