Jalandhar November 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Department of Music Vocal organised as Workshop on the topic ‘Subtler Aspects of Tabla in Hindustani Music’. The resource person of the session was Sardar Surjeet Singh from Department of Theatre and Music, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. He is Tabla Expert and a graded artist of AIR and Doordarshan. The workshop aimed at providing a variety of theoretical and practical aspects of governing the art form of Tabla.
Students were educated on the subtler aspects of Tabla as a performing art including various layakari, integration of accompaniment, calculation of complicated Tihais and the aesthetics of Tabla. The students found the workshop both inspiring and fascinating. It was instrumental in polishing the students’ abilities. President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar commended the endeavours of the department in organising such a session.
