Jalandhar August 28 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Multimedia and Sound Technology at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organized an academic excursion to PVR Cinemas, Jalandhar, where 47 students experienced the screening of the animated film Narsimha. This initiative was aimed at offering students a first-hand understanding of the technical and creative dimensions of filmmaking.
The visit enabled students to go beyond passive viewing and critically engage with multiple cinematic elements such as narrative construction, sound design, character development, animation, editing, and visual effects—skills that form the foundation of Multimedia and Sound Technology. By exploring how mythological themes and cultural stories can be translated into contemporary cinema, students were encouraged to appreciate both the artistic and technical nuances of film production.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra emphasized the significance of experiential learning, remarking, “Cinema is not merely about watching a movie; it is an exploration of the craft behind it. Initiatives like this empower our students to bridge the distance between theoretical knowledge and professional practice, preparing them for the evolving creative industry.”
Students responded with immense enthusiasm, highlighting the fresh insights they gained into narrative techniques and audio-visual synchronization. They also acknowledged how the film inspired them to view cinema not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a powerful tool for preserving cultural heritage while engaging with modern storytelling practices.
Dr. Dhingra appreciated the dedicated efforts of faculty members Mr. Ankit Goyal, Ms. Anjali (Multimedia), and Mr. Sanjeev (Sound Technology) for curating such meaningful academic experiences. She encouraged the department to continue such initiatives that keep students abreast of the latest trends, innovations, and opportunities in the creative and media industries.
