Jalandhar February 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Basant Panchami was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Innocent Hearts School (Green Model Town, Loharan, Nurpur Road, Cantt.-Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road), Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, Loharan and Innocent Hearts College of Education. The program started with the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of music, knowledge and art. Flowers were offered to Maa Saraswati by teachers and children.
In the classes, the teachers told the children the importance of Basant Panchami. They said that worshiping Goddess Saraswati purifies the mind and develops positive thinking. They also told that autumn ends with the arrival of spring and thus there is a change in the weather. Yellow color has special significance on this day. People wear yellow clothes. Apart from this, the teachers made the children aware about the dragon thread and that they should not use the Chinese thread to fly kites.

The program started with the formal ‘Hawan’, which is a symbol of purity and auspicious beginning. All participants gathered to seek blessings and bring a sense of renewal and prosperity. The highlight of the day was the eagerly awaited kite flying competition, where students and teachers alike displayed their skills and expertise. The sky was filled with colorful kites, symbolizing the joy and enthusiasm associated with this festival.
Following the tradition, all the students and faculty members adorned themselves in yellow colors as a symbolic gesture reflecting the vibrancy and greenery of the season.
Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami with the theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat – The bond of love and unity’. Kite flying, and folk-song activities were organized on this occasion.
