Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar March 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Psychology at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organized a two-day workshop on the occasion of World Happiness Week, focusing on mental well-being and personal growth.

On the first day, an interactive session on “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Mindfulness” was conducted by the college alumna, Prachika Chopra, a Counselling Psychologist and Play Therapist. She highlighted that a constant tendency to complain about life’s circumstances prevents individuals from living fully. She encouraged students to accept life events with awareness and develop a positive mindset to lead a meaningful life.

On the second day, Ms. Harpreet Kaur delivered a session titled “Beyond the Classroom,” where she elaborated on the wide range of career opportunities in the field of Psychology. She emphasized that a degree in Psychology is not limited to teaching roles in schools and colleges, but also offers growing prospects in multinational companies.

Another session was conducted by Ms. Niharika Mazumdar on “Canvas and Catharsis.” She explained how creative expression can help individuals address life’s challenges and find solutions, provided they maintain a calm and balanced mental state.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra on the occasion stated that along with physical health, mental health has become equally important in today’s digital age. She noted that while students have access to vast information, there is often a lack of true understanding. Such workshops, she added, guide students and offer practical ways to maintain mental well-being.

Dr. Dhingra also appreciated the efforts of the organizing faculty members, Ms. Niharika Mazumdar and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, for successfully conducting the workshop and encouraged them to continue organizing such meaningful initiatives in the future.
