Jalandhar May 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Home Science at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a series of skill enhancement classes titled ‘Hone Your Cooking Skills’ for students who recently appeared for their Class 12 examinations. These sessions attracted enthusiastic participants with a passion for cooking and a desire to refine their culinary abilities.
Under the guidance of Dr. Monica Anand, Head of the Home Science Department, and Ms. Chetna from the English Department, students received hands-on training in essential cooking techniques. The sessions covered the preparation of snacks, salads, smoothies, desserts, and main dishes, while also emphasizing foundational knowledge in cooking.
Principal Dr. NeerjaDhingra shared her insights on the initiative, stating that in an age where the younger generation is increasingly inclined toward junk food, it is crucial to educate them about nutritious meals and a balanced diet. She highlighted that these classes not only help students grasp the importance of food presentation, kitchen safety, and regional cuisines but also empower them to prepare healthy meals at home.
Dr. Dhingra further emphasized that the culinary field offers a wide range of career opportunities today, and students can even launch their own startups from home. She commended the efforts of Ms. Rajni Gupta and Dr. Seema Sharma for successfully organising the event and encouraged students to continue developing their culinary skills in the days to come.
