Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a workshop on Icing Cakes

Jalandhar April 3 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A one – day workshop on Icing Cakes was organized by the Department of Home Science of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. In this workshop, Jhanvi Chadda, an alumnus of the college who runs ‘Bakes and Flakes’ studio, was present as a keynote speaker.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressing her views about this workshop said that Home Science is a subject in which the practical exposure is must and in order to ensure this, the students are given ample of opportunities from time to time to develop their their skills.

While giving baking tips, Ms. Jhanvi Chadda told the students that baking requires a lot of patience. Only slow baking makes the cake good and we have to take special care of the ingredients. She added, we should never bake the cake on high flame. She also emphasized the need of creativity to excel in this field. In Crumb Coating of Cakes, she explained in detail how fresh fruits and different types of nozzles are used in making cakes. During this workshop, the students made Mango Delight and Chocolate Mousse Cake and thus learnt the intricacies of making these cakes.

The students of Department of Home Science posed many questions to the Resource about making a career in baking. She informed the students that today baking industry is growing rapidly as now-a-days cakes have almost become a must element as part of celebrations.

Dr. Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Monica Anand, Head, Department of Home Science for successfully organizing this workshop.
