Jalandhar July 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, extended a warm welcome to its new students through a thoughtfully curated Orientation Programme aimed at guiding them into a transformative academic journey. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the students, bridging the transition from school to college life.
Addressing the newcomers, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra emphasised the significance of college years as a foundational phase in shaping one’s future. She highlighted that unlike school, college life demands focused effort, time management, and goal-oriented determination. “These three or four years serve as the cornerstone for your entire life. Not a single moment should go to waste,” she stated, encouraging students to pursue their aspirations with discipline and clarity of purpose.

Dr. Dhingra urged students to become active members of various student-led groups such as NSS, NCC, SWA, the Literary Club, IT Forum, and MAC Forum. She stressed that the essence of college life extends far beyond academics. Participation in co-curricular activities, she stated, is essential for developing self-confidence and nurturing a well-rounded personality.
She also underscored the importance of integrating library visits into their daily routines, calling it a key habit for intellectual growth. Sharing the college’s outstanding achievements, Dr. Dhingra proudly stated that for 24 consecutive years, the institution has emerged victorious in the Zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Festival Championships organised by Guru Nanak Dev University. Moreover, students have consistently brought laurels to the college at the North Zone and National Youth Festivals. She encouraged the newcomers to identify their talents and interests and actively participate in such events.
During the programme, heads of various departments introduced students to their respective academic disciplines and faculty members. They also provided valuable insights into subject-specific career opportunities, helping students understand the professional landscape aligned with their chosen fields of study.
