Apeejay College Celebrates ‘World Poetry Day’ with Enthusiasm

Jalandhar March 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The ‘Language and Literary’ Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organized a vibrant Poetry Recitation Competition on the occasion of World Poetry Day. The event aimed to celebrate the beauty of poetry and literature while fostering love for artistic expression among students.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, addressing the gathering, highlighted the significance of World Poetry Day, which was established by UNESCO in 1999 to preserve endangered languages and keep the spirit of poetry alive worldwide. She emphasized the college’s commitment to nurturing literary appreciation among students, helping them embrace human values and become well-rounded individuals.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. They showcased their poetic talents by reciting original compositions as well as works by renowned poets. The winners of the competition were:

First Place: Ruhani (BA JMC)

Second Place: Vanshika Kochhar (BCA) & Diya Talwar (BFA)

Third Place: Diya Ahuja (BCom) & Diya (BA)

Consolation Prize: Angadbir Syal (Multimedia)

Other participants included Anmol, Brahmmeet, Sukhsahaj Preet Singh, Kunwar Pal Singh, Ankita Pritham, Jasmine, and Megha, who also delivered commendable performances.

Dr. Dhingra felicitated the winners with certificates and commended the dedicated efforts of Dr. Anjana Kumari and Ms. Lovepreet Kaur for successfully organizing the event. The celebration of World Poetry Day at Apeejay College once again reinforced the institution’s dedication to literary and cultural enrichment.
